Precision Rifle Results - August 8, 2009
Precision Rifle Shooters,
Today was the perfect day for shooting as we had cool weather and an overcast day. We did not have to fight the sun nor
the bugs. We had 11 shooters with 8 first time Precision Match shooters attending. It was mid 60s and no wind whatsoever.
The earlier starting time worked better too so that the club members from the Fernan Rod & Gun Club can use
the rifle range earlier. We had started at 7:00AM and were finished by 9:30AM.
We welcome the new
shooters and as this match becomes more popular, we may add another mid year match, and also see about shooting a 300 yd match
if enough shooters want to try some longer distances. Anyone is welcome to shoot these matches with any rifle you want, you
neither have to be an SPPL nor FRGC member to shoot. The better optics will play on your side so that you will not have to
use your spotting scope. These matches run with the sme format each time and only require 25 rnds total.
Again,
the first target "Cold Shot" played as a tie breaker in 3 different cases, attached is the picture of how the tie
breaker determined the Match winner. We also had a tie for 4th & 5th place as well as 7th & 8th place. Although
this target has no point valiues, it is really to make your final adjustment for your 100 yard zero. However, it
still has a good purpose in braeking these tie scores.

MATCH DESCRIPTION
COLD SHOT
The format is a single target that is
not a scoring target for points,
this is just for tie breaking purposes and for your one and only
'sighter' shot.
This is called 'One Cold Shot', and will be the first
shot out of your cold gun from a prone position.
KNOW
YOUR LIMITATIONS aka KYL
The second target array is also prone called 'Know your Limitation'.
This is 1
to 4 shots depending on your skill level and this target is
worth 100 points max. No time limits on any of these targets,
we will
score targets after the last person shoots.
ISRAELI SNIPER TARGET
The third
target is the 'Israeli Sniper Target' that has 10 shots, all
prone, and is also worth 100 points max. There are hostages
and no
shoots on this target that if shot will score against you.
IPSC TARGET
The
final target will be a standard IPSC target and has 10 shots again
worth a 100 points max. The center mass A Zone will
be shot standing
offhand, unsupported for 5 shots, only A Zone counts. The last 5 shots
on this
same target will be the upper panel A Zone from a sitting
position. Again, only A Zone shots will count.
Maximum rounds shot in the match will be 25 rnds, maximum score is 300
points. There are no trophies or
awards yet, just bragging rights until
the next Precision Rifle Match in August.
Are you accurate? Do you
own a gun that can shoot MOA? Can you hit all
25 shots? This may sound easy but it is a great test of ones discipline
of both mind and gun.
